Show To Drug Charges Deer Creek Resident Pleads Not Guilty Deer Creek resident Grant Johnson, John-son, 32, was arraigned Jan. 5 in Sixth District Court in Panguitch on seven drug-related charges. Represented by Salt Lake City attorney David Bird, Johnson pleaded not guilty to all seven counts." All motions and discoveries will be heard at a hearing set for Feb. 2. If necessary, a trial date will be set at that time. Johnson, who earlier had charges of vandalism dismissed, was arraigned ar-raigned on the following counts: possession of a controlled sub- stance (peyote), a third degree felony; possession of a controlled substance (lysergic acid diethy-lamide-LDS), a third degree felony; possession of a controlled substance sub-stance with intent to distribute (marijuana), a third degree felony; two counts of possession of a controlled con-trolled substance (marijuana), class B misdemeanors; and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, class B misdemeanors. Representing the state in the Panguitch court presided over by Judge Don Tibbs was Garfield County Attorney Patrick Nolan. Johnson had been arrested Dec. 7, 1987, in Boulder. He appeared originally before Judge John Yard-ley Yard-ley in Garfield County Justice Court. The case was transferred to the Sixth Circuit Court for a July preliminary hearing before Judge David Mower. Judge Mower subsequently dropped all criminal mischief charges against Johnson for lack of sufficient evidence. Johnson had been charged with criminal mischief in connection with vandalism of bulldozers on the Burr Trail on Dec. 4, 1987. |
