Show DUP Meets Cornelia Camp Daughter of Utah Pioneers met at the home of Hilma Excell to plan ceremonies for placing of a plaque that designates the lot where the museum stands as the old Panguitch Tithing Lot. The bronze plaque arrived recently, along with lace curtains and old-fashioned blinds for installation in time of the museum's spring opening. The busy group is also working toward having the DUP marker on the old Tabernacle Square repaired and the bell from the building put on top of it. Calvin Davis is cutting stones salvaged from the old elementary school with which to repair the marker. Volunteers are being sought, some hardy men, to lay the stones in the spring. Anyone with relics from the old elementary school is invited to place them in the museum. At the recent DUP meeting, Gai Wilcock gave the history of a pioneer mother, and Ireta Henrie gave the history of her greatgrandfather great-grandfather James Alma Slater for whom the town of Slaterville was named. Area DUP officers include Dorothy Houston, Loyhova captain; Merle Slowell, Cornelia captain; Lucille Bridges, county captain; and Mamie Talbot, county marker chairman. |
