Some of the most beautiful scen-0. scen-0. f v in southern Utah may be seen 26, (j J the traveler moves over the Boulder Mountain Road, the link that connects Capitol Reef National Nation-al Park with Bryce Canyon Na- tional Park. This important section of mountain moun-tain highway, with paving completed, com-pleted, is over 32 miles in length. It traverses 9,200 foot Boulder Mountain where stands of quaking quak-ing aspen abound and crispy cold mountain lakes sparkle among the green expanses. Three easily accessible campgrounds camp-grounds are found along its length: Oak Creek, with 10 campsites; camp-sites; Pleasant Creek with 18 campsites: and Singletree with 26 campsites. All are beautifully maintained by the Forest Service and easily reached. Now broad and fully paved, the easy-to-travel route, 32 miles long, traverses 9,200-foot Boulder Mountain with its lakes, streams, campgrounds and spectacular vistas. It also save 50 miles of travel between Bryce Canyon and Capitol Reef National Park. some of the most unusual geography geogra-phy on the face of the earth. The road benefits the tourist by cutting off some 50 miles of the trip between Bryce Canyon and Capitol Reef National Parks. Still undergoing paving in a few places, plac-es, the road has been in use since it began as a simple mountain trail connecting the folks who live in Boulder in the north central part of Garfield County, with the folks who live in Grover in the southern section of Wayne County. The Aquarius Plateau consists of some 70 square miles of heavily I forested timberland rising above the surrounding desert country to I elevations of more than 11,000 j feet. 1 From its lofty heights, tourists can see Capitol Reef, the Circle Cliffs, the Henry Mountains, the Kaiparowits Plateau, Navajo Mountain and the Glen Canyon " National Recreation Area. Numerous small lakes and streams dot the area and provide good fishing. |
