Show Bryce Canyon News Kathy Lee I Congratulations to Joe Hughes, ' engineering equipment operator, who received recognition for 30 i years of government service. Assistant Superintendent and Chief of Maintenance Jed Davis presented Joe with a 30-year pin and certificate certifi-cate at the safety meeting on April 20. Joe started with the National Park Service in maintenance and worked 15 years as a seasonal employee em-ployee here at Bryce Canyon. Then he spent a winter working at Grand Canyon where he achieved his permanent per-manent status, working at Bryce Canyon ever since. Supt. Bob Reynolds attended the federal managers meeting April 20-21 20-21 at Brian Head. On Friday, federal managers from the NPS, National i Park Service, and Bureau of Land Management visited Bryce Canyon National Park to tour the historic area of the park, Supt. Harry Grafe of Zion NP, Supt. Jack Davis of Grand Canyon NP, Supt. John Lancaster of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, Supt. Alan O'Neill of Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Forest Supervisor Hugh Thompson of Dixie National Forest, Forest Supervisor Su-pervisor Andy Lindquist of Kaibab National Forest, Forest Engineer Jerry McFarland of Coconino National Na-tional Forest, District Manager Bill Lamb Arizona Strip BLM, and District Manager Gordon Staker of the Cedar City BLM also attended a presentation by Building and Utilities Utili-ties Foreman Michael Lee, Preservation Preser-vation Specialist Kelly Shakespear, and Chief of Maintenance Jed Davis on the historic preservation work and revegetation work being done at Bryce Canyon. Chief Ranger George Buckingham Bucking-ham traveled April 22 to his new job as Chief of Resource Management Manage-ment at Crater Lake NP. He will return to Bryce Canyon in late May to help his family move and to attend at-tend son Alan's high school graduation. Interpretation Chief Susan Col-clazer Col-clazer attended a Resource Management Man-agement Planning workshop in Denver. Park Ranger Ken Kerr is attending fire training for supervisors supervi-sors in Grand Junction, Colo., until un-til May 6. Resource Management Specialist Special-ist Therese Johnson is attending training courses in geographical information systems, water and air quality management, and mining and minerals management in Denver, Den-ver, Steamboat, and Fort Collins, Colo., during the month of May. Backcountry Park Ranger Bill Garmen and Park RangerFee Collector Kathy Lee passed the state certification for Emergency Medical Technician. Garmen and Lee received their test results and scores in the mail There are new faces in the park this month. As the summer season is beginning, new personnel in several divisions are starting employment em-ployment at Bryce Canyon including the new seasonal law enforcement en-forcement rangers Lemuel Pratt from Snohomish, Wash.; Scott Lowrey from Roseville, Calif., and Susan Ream from Xenia, Oh. Superintendent Bob Reynolds attended the governor's conference on Tourism in Cedar City Structural fire fighting training was held at Bryce Canyon April 17-21. 17-21. Garman and Lee received their test results and were welcomed by the Garfield Mountain Ambu lance Squad and Bryce Canyon National Na-tional Park as full-fieged EMTs. Chief of Maintenance Jed Davis is teaching NPS training at Wind Cave NP, South Dakota, and Theodore Roosevelt NP North Dakota. The course is entitled "Position Management Training." Building and Utilities Foreman Michael Lee traveled this week to Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Monument in Colorado where he is providing inspection and acceptance for a prefabricated modular building to be set at the Jay Frederick of Ranger Survival Sur-vival Search, and Rescue products, Newton, Utah, trained NPS personnel per-sonnel at BCNP on a three-day search and rescue course. Nancy Davis is home from 10 days of visiting her sister in Honolulu, Hon-olulu, Hawaii. Scott Reynolds, son of Supt.
