Show Escalante Man Gets One-Year Jail Terms A 19-year-old Escalante man, charged with a second degree felony and eight misdemeanor counts, left Sixth Circuit Court April 4 with all charges except two dropped under un-der a pica negotiation between his attorney and the Garfield County attorney, but received a jail sentence. sen-tence. Kennedy had been charged with a second degree felony theft, two class A misdemeanor counts of evading a police officer, a class B misdemeanor charge of reckless driving, class B misdemeanor charge of unlawful possession of alcohol, a class B misdemeanor charge of failure to appear, two class B misdemeanor criminal mischief charges, and a class B misdemeanor theft charge. He pleaded guilty to one class A misdemeanor charge of evading a police officer, and pleaded no contest con-test to the second degree felony, as agreed upon by the attorneys and the defendant. According to the agreement, none of the charges can be rcfiled. Kennedy will be released to the Adult Probation and Parole for a period of 18 months ending December De-cember 31, 1990. |
