Show Commission Okays Equipment Sales To High Bidders In a recent offering of surplus equipment, the Garfield County commission approved the sale to the highest bidder the following: Roy Quinnear was the successful bidder on an old storage school bus at $75; an International dump truck at $1,225; and a Dodge truck at $435. Larry Rose was the successful bidder on three items: a flat bed trailer at $200; a stationary water tank at $200; and a stationary fuel tank at $500. Bob Evans was the successful bidder on a one-ton truck at $856; Ron Greenhalgh picked up a Dodge truck for $401 and Lynn Evans placed a winning bid of $100 for a 1969 Chevrolet pickup. Kent Lewis took away a Chevrolet Blazer for $501 and Hutchinson (no first name given) outbid the field for a boat at $500. Fifty bids were made for 10 pieces of equipment which brought the county $4,092. Crescent Creek road on Henry Mountain is impassable according to county information. Officials from the BLM met with Garfield County officials and since the road in Henry Mountain is used by both the BLM and the county as well as some other roads, the BLM and county are going to work together to alleviate the problem. ' Creamer and Noble, engineers from St. George have been selected to perform the construction engineering on the Sevier River Bridge east of Panguitch. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Woods residents of Mammoth Creek complained to the commisison about the condition of the Mammoth Creek subdivision road. They wanted to reach the right agency to determine who would be responsible for repairs. County road supervisor Ron Greenhalgh said that Bob Evans who has worked for the county for 19 years has never been over the road. John Bentley, United States Forest Service produced a document showing county ownership of the road. The commission and the FS will look into the matter. Antimony Road problems will be getting a meeting between the Antimony City Council, the commissioners end Greenhalgh. A right-of-way agreement for Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Co., for the construction of underground telephone lines along the River Lane Road to the Jolin Graf property was approved. Tropic Town Manager LaMar LeFevre discussed the Tropic Culinary, water system which he says is 111 Jeopardy. LeFevre asked the county for help in temporary repaid until a block grant or other funding can be obtained to solve the problem. |
