Show Page Angler Catches Record Bass Ron Kubicki of Page, Arizona, caught a new state record striped bass recently near Glen Canyon Dam ati Lake Powell. The huge fish tipped the scales at 36 and one-half pounds, two ounces heavier than the old record fish, and was 43 Inches long. The record fish was verified by Utah Division of Wildlife Resources personnel at Page. The fish was caught in about 25 feet of water on a trolled waterdog bomber lure. It took the hook about 3:30 p.m. August 31, within sight of the dam. Wayne Gustavson, chief fisheries biologists at Lake Powell says that he has confirmed reports of a dozen fish taken in the 20 to 30 pounds class during August. Striped bass fishing at Powell usually remains good throughout the , fall months, especially when top-water action picks up in early fall. t |
