Show T -- -- - -it- -- ir ii "muti -i Tropic Topics There were many out-of-town visitors at the wedding reception for Mr. and Mrs. Brant Barton. The Obie Shakespears had son Vance and family from Independence, Missouri; son L. Dee and family from Page, Arizona; daughter Elna and family from Provo, and Kelly from Provo, all home for the weekend. Dalen Baugh and Lacie Mangum had birthdays this past week, each having a few friends in for parties. The Arnold Adairs received word that their granddaughter, Chong Won, had been elected cheerleader for Cedar City junior high school for next year. She is the daughter of Larry and Judy Adair. Spending the past week with the Lester Clarkes were Karen Willis and daughters from Hunter. Mr. and Mrs. DeVar Pollock visited with the Larvin Pollocks and Lester Clarkes Saturday. DeVar and Katie are both feeling much better and it was good to see them home again. Dorma, Ardene, Kay and family and Mary Jo Barton and family were in Tropic over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Mark Bybee and children spent the weekend with his mother, Ella Bybee. Mr. and Mrs. German Goulding visited with the Berdell Bartons and attended the wedding of Brant and Shanna. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Jolley visited the Earl Jolleys. Kim and Kathy Ott, Steve Mecham, Ed and Kelly Shakespeare were home from college over the weekend. Juanita Pollock and Maureen Reid were visitors at the home of their parents, the Larvin Pollocks. Maureen's little girl stayed with her grandparents for a visit. The Herman Pollocks spent the past weekend in St. George on a temple assignment. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Otteson and children visited the Charley Wintchs this past week. Next Sunday will be fast Sunday due to General Conference the following week, The children in Primary presented the program in sacrament meeting, bringing all parents and grandparents out to see them perform. They presented an excellent program and should be complimented for their beautiful singing. Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Asay and daughter were in Cedar City for dental appointments. . The Escalante Stake Pine Wood derby and Scout pow-wow dinner will be held in Escalante at 11 a.m. Saturday. Christine Littlefield is spending the week with her parents, the Ray Littlefields. They all traveled to Cedar City to visit with the Max Hodsons during the week. Brad Shakespear visited with relatives and friends this past weekend. He was Brant Bartons missionary companion in New Zealand. Dorothy, Bert and Margee Rader were visitors in Tropic. Members of the Garfield County Senior Citizens committee held their monthly meeting at Bryce Valley high school. Following the meeting the group enjoyed dinner in the school lunch room. Mr. and Mrs. John Mecham and Mr. and Mrs. Kowan Ott attended the party given for employees of the movie group at the Wahweap movie location. Verlyn and Irene Munson were in Salt Lake City for a few days visiting with Donald Munson and family. Elise Ott enjoyed a visit from her daughter and husband from Kanab. Bob Jo Ott spent the weekend In Tropic helping with the cattle. His father, Robert Ott, had fallen from his horse and broken a few ribs while gatehring cattle during the week. The Malen, Stan and Lowell Mechams and Viva Mecham along with President and Mrs. Whatcott of Cedar City attended the Golden Wedding reception in Escalante for the Starns Mechams. The Whatcotts spent the weekend visiting with their daughter Nellie Rae Mecham and family. The Bryce Valley spelling contest held Wednesday found Kathie Henry winning for the high school and Sharron Munson for the elementary school. They competed in the district finals which was won by Ginger Reaves of Panguitch with Kathie Henry coming in second for the district. We wish Ginger luck as she goes to the state finals. Lloyd LeFevre was in Tropic. Word is that he was cleaning house so the family could all come home when Layne returns from his mission this weekend. E. R., Dixie, Ed, Rhett and Christine Shakespear and Arvonne Button accompanied Kathleen and Jerry Haram to the Manti temple Saturday. |
