Show The Salt Lake Tribune September Wednesday, E13 19&4 12, Why not cookbook composed of all family favorites DEAR HELOISE: I recently visit ed my brother and sister-in-lawho showed me a gift idea I simply have to pass on. They had gathered to- T gether all the favorite recipes used in the family while their children, were growing up A borrowing some from their parents. They put them together for a custom-made recine book of alltime family favorites. They typed each recipe on a separate sheet of paper and took them all to a printer who made the necessary copies on heavy paper. When printed, they punched holes in one side, collated the pages ard secured each, book fashion, with mt binder clips. It was a treasure everyone very much appreciated. Mrs. M L. Harvey I can understand why. The book will be an heirloom that can be handed down to the next generation. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful idea. Heloise DEAR HELOISE; To keep fresh garlic, peel the cloves and place them in a small jar. Cover them with vegetable oil and refrigerate. The garlic flavor will slowly transfer to the 01L If you want just a touch of garlic, use a little oil rather than fussing with a clove of garlic each time. Great to mix with margarine for garlic bread. As the oil is used, replace it to keep the garlic buds covered. Eventually, though they will lose their flavor and you will have to start over and make a new batch. V. Keene DEAR HELOISE; I bought a food processor to save me time in meal preparation but Dy tne time I could drag it out of a cabinet and set it up on the counter, I found I could have the whatever shredded with just a knife. work, so now on weekends I use the processor to shred, chop and grind everything I can get my hands on, measure them out in portion sizes and freeze them. All I have to do during the week is to grab a bag, zap it a minute or two in the microwave oven and its ready to use. Besides, I only have to wash the R.A.R. bloomin processor once!
