Show 2nd Earth Day Fair to be held April 7 9-2 7 and the winner will perform on Saturday Sat-urday and Sunday. (Entry deadline was April 15.) Friday is scheduled as school day. Students and teachers were invited in-vited to take a field trip to the fair. Saturday at 2 p.m., a special forum on "Transportation Futures' will be moderated by Rod Decker. The panel will explore transportation transporta-tion options to alleviate pollution and congestion along the Wasatch Front. Students are also invited to enter the "Previously Loved Materials" contest. Children are encouraged to find imaginative ways to combine or rearrange recyclable products into artistic creations. The "Reforest the Wasatch" tree planting event will take place on Saturday, April 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers will plant 6,000 seedlings at the summit of Little Mountain in Emigration Canyon. "I Make a Difference" is the theme of this year's fair. Every Utahn is being urged to make one lifestyle change to benefit the environment. en-vironment. Efforts from "Reforesting the Wasatch" to cleaning up the environment envir-onment in one's own front yard have been scheduled for the weekend week-end fair running Friday and Saturday, Satur-day, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday 12 noon to 5 p.m. According to Charlotte Howe, exhibitors will present products and programs that promote an environmentally envir-onmentally healthy lifestyle to help people make informed lifestyle and purchasing decisions. Contests, life performances, demonstrations and seedling giveaways are all on the schedule of events for Earth Day Utah 1991. In conjunction with the fair, "Recycle Awareness Week" will be held at Hill Air Force Base. A poster and slogan contest is being sponsored and seedlings will be given away to commemorate the event. A Desert Storm Memorial Tree planting, in association with TreeUtah, will also be conducted. Celebrating Earth Day Utah, Utah State University in Logan will hold an Environmental Fair April 18 and 19. Prior to the fair, students from kindergarten through 12th grade are encouraged to enter the "Nature Rap" contest. Contestants will perform in Trolley Square's amphitheater at 4:30 p.m. Friday, |
