Show Snow answers questions Editor's note: In the Tuesday, Oct 30 edition of the Clipper, candidates responses to campaign questions were published. An error listed Davis County Commission Com-mission candidate Ed Snow's responses under the name Stan Smedley. Mr. Snow's answers have been reprinted here. The Clipper regrets this error and apologizes for any inconvenience it may have caused. The first issue to look at is economic development. With the tremendous population growth taking place in Davis County we need long term strategic planning to plan for it. I have professional insights in-sights to do this. The biggest challenge is how to plan, such as for transportation, and getting good clean businesses into the county so fewer people have to commute out. Also, national issues affect our county, like the new Clean Air Act, and with my experience on a national level, I will be able to deal with these issues. 2. I'd ask what does the greatest good for the greatest amount of people. Some issues are very close calls, so you have to listen to the voice of the people. If you feel very strongly on a rare issue, you vote your conscience, otherwise, listen to the people. 3. I understand how important it is for citizens to affect government, especially locally. Get community groups involved, and get grassroots input. The "man on the street" is a valuable resource and we need to listen to them. I'd have an open door policy and would welcome citizens to come talk to me anytime. |
