Show Tooele storms past Lady Braves, 84-61 1 r By BRET GALLACHER BOUNTIFUL While the final score may indicate otherwise, the lady Braves played pretty well Friday, despite losing 84-61. The problem Bountiful faced was in playing Tooele, the No . 1 one team in the state. "Wc just got a good-oT butt-kicking butt-kicking from a better team, that's all there is to it," said assistant coach Dave Wigham. While the combination of Jenny Gardner and Camille Dupaix on the inside, and Kim Reimann from the perimeter kept the contest interesting, inter-esting, it was obvious early how dominating the Buffaloes were. The opening quarter ended 23-13 for Tooele. The fast start could be mostly credited to the intimidating inside play of Shannon Lopez, who scored 10 in the period. The Braves were able to stay within 10 the entire first half, with Gardner and Dupaix scoring seven and eight, respectively, in the second se-cond quarter. The second half was all Tooele as the Buffaloes led by 15 after three, and 23 at the final buzzer. The visitors surge should be mostly credited to point guard Kane Johnson, who dominated the tempo and dazzled the crowd with defense, superior passing, and perimeter shooting. 'Johnson was outstanding," said Wigham. I bet she could play point for a lot of boys' teams in the state. ' ' For the game Johnson totaled 18 points, a page full of assists, and three steals. "They are the best team we've played all year," said Wigham. "But our girls will be okay, we just need to move on from here." Friday.
