St. Olaf s School has an active Home and School Association which helps bring br-ing parents, teachers, administrators and students together on many projects. pro-jects. The Home and School Association Associa-tion consists of both elected officers and appointed classroom representatives. represen-tatives. These volunteers meet on a monthly basis to review current events and to plan future activities. The 1991-92 school year has really shaped up to be an exciting and fun-filled year. The Home and School Association has already hosted a "Newcomers Meeting" to give new families information regarding the school and activities. In addition, the Drug Free Week is sponsored by the Home and School Association and includes activities ac-tivities and rallies for not only the students, but the parents as well. This year a representative of the Salt Lake City Narcotic Force led a discussion of the problems parents face in the difficult area of drug and alcohol abuse prevention. The annual Mardi Gras Festival has been scheduled for Feb. 28. This event includes carnival activities, ac-tivities, a raffle, food and loads of fun for the entire family. An auction fund-raiser has been scheduled for March 28. This event will include a dinner auction, with a silent auction and a raffle. This is a popular form of fund-raising and promises to be an entertaining evening. even-ing. There are many auction items worth bidding on and these include vacation trips, hotel accommodations, accommoda-tions, a living will and tax services. The list of items available for auction auc-tion is growing daily and more information in-formation will be forthcoming. In addition to special events, the Home and School Association is actively ac-tively involved in many aspects of the students' school days. The school computer lab, sponsorship of field trips, mini-courses in various areas and administration of the Parent Involvement Program (which involves volunteering time to the school on a regular basis) are some examples of the many projects pro-jects that the Home and School Association is currently overseeing. The Home and School Association Associa-tion feels that these events and projects pro-jects fulfilled many goals. Some of the events are strictly fund-raisers, but the majority of the goals and projects combine fund-raising with the goals of increasing school spirit and promoting a sense of family togetherness.
