Show Huff selected conductor for So. The Board of Directors has chosen a new conductor for the choir, and three new officers have been elected. Also, rehearsals for the annual an-nual spring concert have been set. Michael D. Huff of North Salt Lake was chosen to be the new permanent conductor of the choir, after careful consideration of three excellent candidates. Huff brings to the position a broad experience of music as pianist, instrumentalist, arranger, ar-ranger, conductor and performer, as well as a sense of humor, personality personali-ty and a flair for teaching musicali- ty. As a youth he was drum major at Woods Cross High School, and a state runner-up Sterling Scholar in music. He has a number of college honors to his credit, including the Tracy Memorial Scholarship, a four-year departmental scholarship in piano, and conducting various U of U organizations as an undergraduate. Also, he served as music director and arranger for Lagoon Amusement Amuse-ment Park Show Band, Opera House and Music USA productions. Changes on the Board of Directors Direc-tors came about due to ending of terms of office. Elections were held last fall during choir rehearsals. Mary Nelson, former fund-raising chairman, succeeds Jess Manfull as president for the next three years. Aloa Dereta was elected treasurer, succeeding Ilene Worsley and Chris Brown in that responsibility. respon-sibility. Coila Robinson, publicity, assumes the position previously held by Barbara Manfull. Completing Com-pleting Nelson's term on fund-raising fund-raising is Sharon Wangsgard. The choir will begin rehearsing two choral works for performance in May. The two selected are John Rutter's "Gloria" and Gabriel Faure's "Requiem. Performance will include organ and brass accompaniment. ac-companiment. Diane Bastian continues con-tinues as rehearsal accompanist. Rehearsals for the spring performances perfor-mances will begin Sunday evening, Feb. 16 at the usual rehearsal site, the LDS 28th Ward Meetinghouse, 2285 S. 200 West, Bountiful from 7-9 p.m. The choir membership is open to any member of the community; com-munity; no audition is required and annual dues are $10. Incorporated in January 1983, it has performed many major works of choral literature, including annual an-nual presentations of Handel's Messiah. The choir has performed at such community events as Bountiful's Handcart Days, Summerfest, Days of '47 Sunrise Service, and Christmas performances in Center-ville Center-ville and Salt Lake City.
