The Sterling Scholar competition is sponsored annually by the Utah State Board of Education and a Salt Lake City newspaper: ' ENGLISH s MERRUANE BARTON . Merrijane Barton, the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. W. Alford Barton of Bountiful, has a particular interest in writing poetry. During'her high school years she has placed first and second in the Utah high school poetry poe-try contest, first in the League of Utah Writers contest, first and second se-cond in the Reflections contest and honorable mention in two World of . Poetry contests, ' - Merrijane was a nominee for the NCTE essay writing contest She received the Golden Poet Award. " Merrijane is a member of the National Honor Society. She is a National Merit" Scholarship semi-.finalist semi-.finalist and received the Presidential Presi-dential Academic Fitness award. SPEECH AND DRAMA , SCOTT CHRISTENSEN Scott Christensen, the son of Roger and Judy Christensen of Centerville, is a member of the National Honor Society and the National Forensic League. He is a member of the school debate team. MATHEMATICS . NATHAN MUELLER " Nathan Mueller, the son of Max i A. and Barbara Mueller of Centerville, Center-ville, has been a participant in the state math contest .and the 1988 BYU Science Bowl. He received the U.S.. National Mathematics Award and other honors from the .jw. ..-.. ; , ...,. U.S. Achievement Academy. This summer, Nathan worked in a children's hospital in Zurich, Switzerland. He is the concertmaster for the Viewmont High string orchestra and is studying violin, under Lynn Braus, a member of the Utah Symphony. Sym-phony. He has competed in solo and ensemble festivals, the state fair and competitions sponsored by the. Federation Fed-eration and Symphony Guilds. He has participated with the Salt Lake and Bountiful Symphonies. " Nathan is a member of die school track team and the 1987 state champion cross country team. SOCIAL SCIENCE NATALIE ANNE PARKER Natalie Anne Parker, the daughter of Dennis and Anne Parker Par-ker of Centerville, has a strong interest in-terest in the field of psychology.: She is the scholastic achievement leader in the science club. Natalie is a three-year member of the Viewmont View-mont soccer team. She plays the piano and flute and has composed several songs. 'N, SCIENCE BART THEODORE ENDRIZZI Bart Theodore Endrizzi, the. son of Theodore and June Endrizzi of ' Bountiful, developed an interest in science through his experiences ' with Don Gubler, his scoutmaster. Last year' Bart participated in the district and regional science fair where he placed third in his division. div-ision. At the age of 13, Bart became an Eagle Scout. He has received 80 merit badges and eleven palms. He works with the handicapped youth scout troop and enjoys working with their annual productions. FOREIGN LANGUAGE ANITA NATESH Anita Natesh, the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. R. Natesh, has studied six ENGLISH JENNIFER HENDRICKS Jennifer Hendricks, daughter of Mrs. Jayne Hendricks of West Val-. ley City, currently maintains a 3.95 gpa while taking AP, honors, and concurrent enrollment courses. She was invited to Washington, D.C. by the National Young Leaders Con-' Con-' vention. , Jennifer has received many honors hon-ors including the Daughters of American Revolution Good Citizen Award. She has participated in cross country and long distance track for four years, receiving letters in both. .. She has been to state three times in track events. Jennifer is a member of the Madrigals, Ma-drigals, the National Honor Society and the Key Club. SPEECHDRAMA LEE WRIGHT Lee Wright, son of Mr. and Mrs. David H Wright, Jr. of Woods . Cross, is the student body first vice president at Woods Cross. Ryan McCune, son of Landon W. - - and Linda McCune of Bountiful, ( ranks second in a class of 324 with a gpa of 3.979; He received a Trustee's Scholarship from BYU. s Ryan is a member of the National ;: Honor Society, the Math Club, the Jazz Ensemble, the Wind Ensemble and the marching band. He received an Academic Achievement Award ' . , : ;n rWmhar 1089 l and the late Geri H. Siddoway, Bountiful. She has shown an interest inter-est in art since she was a small Child. She is able to work in a variety var-iety of media, such as pencil drawing, draw-ing, ink, water color, "acrylic, tempera, oil, and pastel. She also is adept at sculpture. During the summer months Shar-lene Shar-lene is a swimming instructor and swam for the Woods Cross High School swim team. She has recently served as president of her Lalirel class in her LDS ward. Sharlene's hobbies include snow and water skiing, swimming and diving. INDUSTRIAL EDUCATION -ERIC HATCH Eric Hatch, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Stuart Hatch, is a member of the National Honor Society, the Key Clubr VICA, the U.S. Achievement Academy,, the Woods Cross Concert Con-cert Choir, and the cross country team last fall. At the age of 13, he earned his Eagle Scout award. Eric is currently serving as second se-cond vice president in the. District Explorer Presidents Association. He is employed at Peter Piper Pizza. Pi-zza. BUSINESS EDUCATION , DANNA REDMOND : Danna Redmond, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan W. Redmond of North Salt Lake, is the student body ' historian, the drill team president and the state vice president for the FBLA. She is taking AP computer programming-Pascal. Danna :. attended . Utah . Girls' State. She is a member of the : National Honor Society, Key Club, FBLA, DECA, Cats Against Substance Sub-stance Abuse and the School Senate.
