Show "Piriincipallslhiips dhainigedl9 appoiimtmeinits inmadle By DONETA GATHERUM FARMINGTON The appointment and transfers of ten elementary school principals, one secondary school principal and three additional administrative appointments were made at the April 19 meeting of the Davis County Board of Education. Topping the list of principalships was Tamara Lowe, assistant principal prin-cipal at Clearfield High School, who was appointed as principal at Clearfield. She replaced Michael Duckworth who was earlier appointed as principal at Davis High School. Vivian Stapley was named interim in-terim principal at Davis High School, a position she will hold until un-til June when Mr. Duckworth will start his assignment at Davis. Changes in the leadership of elementary schools involved appointing new principals and transferring principals from one school to another. New principal assignments went to Linda J. Davis, formerly in the Park City School District as principal prin-cipal at Valley View; Randall Jensen, Jen-sen, formerly a teacher at West Clinton as principal at Vae View; Ofelia Wade, formerly an intern at Washington, as principal at Cen-terville Cen-terville and Liz Beck, formerly an intern at Meadowbrook as principal princip-al at Meadowbrook. Transfers in principalship assignments were given to Maynard Whitesides from Boulton to Reading; Steve Burningham from Layton to Boulton; Dolores Hansen from Valley View to Layton; Wayne Stanger from Washington and Meadowbrook to Orchard; Arvel Beckstead from Orchard to Fremont and Deon Stevens from Vae View to Washington. Supt. Richard Kendell indicated there would be no more part-time principals. The cost saving plan of using teaching principals or principals prin-cipals to oversee two schools has been evaluated and the district administration felt it was not well accepted. Four assistant principals for secondary schools were appointed. Steve Mangel, a teacher at Farmington Junior, will be the assistant principal at Mueller Muel-ler Park. Rick Call, assistant principal prin-cipal at Layton High School will be re-assigned to Bountiful High. Wayne Baker, assistant principal at Mueller Park Junior, will move to the assistant principalship at Layton High School and Cathy Davis, a teacher at Viewmont, will be the assistant principal at Viewmont. Administrative appointments on the central office level went to Nancy Sonntag Lyon, new Davis Foundation Director; Richard Marsden, music educator and Leslie Les-lie Moore, director of Scheduling in the Transportation Department. Mrs. Lyon has taught school at Bountiful Junior High. She has been the PTA president at Boulton Elementary where she was responsible respon-sible for fund raising, including a drive that resulted in $13,188 towards to-wards developing a computer lab. The position of Foundation Director Direc-tor is a part-time job. Mr. Marsden's duties in the central cen-tral office will also be on a part-time part-time basis. Mr. Moore will replace Dave Livingston who is retiring. Mr. Moore has 29 years of transportation transporta-tion management experience. He is precently employed by Hercules Aerospace, Inc. |
