Show Neighbor's crowing rooster and squawking geese cause Bountiful man grief By GARY R. BLODGETT BOUNTIFUL Holding up a tape recording for all the council to hear, Larry Jacobs pleaded with the Bountiful City Council to "do something about his neighbor's crowing rooster." Mr. Jacobs told the council that he and his wife are awakened early each morning to the crowing of a neighbor's rooster, followed by the squawking of gaggle of geese. "It may be music to ears of some, but it's gotten to be a nuisance to my wife and I," he told the council after holding up a recording of the crowing rooster and squawking geese. He said the neighborhood fowl are located more than 150 feet from the Jacobs' home. "But that's an awfully loud rooster and the squawking geese Ret to be annoying," he said. Mr. Jacobs told the council that the early-morning ritual begins before 5 a.m. and continues for several minutes. "The crow of the rooster starts the geese squawking," he said. "We could probably tolerate the rooster, but the geese squawking is just too much." He explained that his home is the only residence within earshot ear-shot of the rooster. "I don't want to cause problems with the neighbor, but I would like a good night's sleep," he said. City Manager Tom Hardy explained that there is a city ordinance ordi-nance against barking dogs and some animal nuisances, but nothing to control a crowing rooster. "This is something we will try to solve individually," he said. |
