Show Victory-seeking Devils meet vmless Bums Two prep grid clubs who are hoping for their first victory of the young grid season, Carbon Car-bon and Springville, will clash on the Springville North Park football field Friday, Sept. 23, beginning at 2:30 p.m. Both teams lost to opponents in first and second round play. BY High defeated Carbon and Lehi whipped the Price team on the Dino field while the Devils have lost to American Fork and to BY High. Picking the Y High as a common foe and compairing scores, the Friday game should be pretty close. The Wildcats won 26-6 over Carbon and 'tripped the D evils surprisingly, to the tune of 33-0 last Friday night. Piles up record Friday's wiin over the Springville club was one of BY High's highest scores over ov-er the Devils inthe past three years. They have won by the following scores: 1963, 26-0; 1964, 7-6; 1965, 7-6 and then 33-0 for 1966. Correction noted The statement in last week's issue concerning total points tallied in one game as compared compar-ed to previous years' totals was incorrectly stated. The American Ameri-can Fork game total for Springville of 31 points was the Devils highest single game total to-tal for a number of years but not the season high. In 1963 the Red Devils totaled 19 points during the season with a 0-8 record. In 1964, they tallied tal-lied 62 with a 2-7 record, and in 1965 they got 84 with a 2-7 record. Average for the three years came to just over six points per game. The Herald is happy to make this corrected tabulation. BY High victors Friday the Wildcats of BY High proved their superiority again on the gridiron against the Devils with a colorful 33-0 win. The lopsided victory actually ac-tually wasn't quite as bad as the score indicated. The Red Devils showed up well gaining more first downs 9 to 4 in fact. The big difference in the contest was the ability of the winners to capitalize on the breaks, including four costly Red Devil fumbles, most of which were converted into touchdowns. Spriingville's defensive game shone brighter inthe first half than the last. The Devils held the Wildcats on the eight early in the first period, but were unable to gain through the tough Y High defense and so Allan Watts booted to the 47 from whence the receiver, Brent Orton, ran through the entire Red Devil team to score. The extra point was booted giving the Wildcats a 7-0 lead. On the first play of the second sec-ond quarter the Wildcats intercepted inter-cepted a pass and ran 45 yards to score. The place kick was good again and the score read 14-0. The Devils opened up with nice pass plays to chalk up four first downs but an interception in-terception killed their scoring chances. The two teams battled on even terms in the third period, but in the first play of the final fi-nal quarter, the BY Highers pulled a beautiful double pass play to score and on a series of other pass plays scored again to make it 27-0. Near the close of the game Y Highers connected con-nected again to score on a pass to leave the final tally 33-0.
