Show New features added to '67 Volkswagen Volkswagen announced today its 1967 models will be at the authorized VW dealerships today, to-day, Thursday, September 22 for public viewing. According to Chuck Peterson, Peter-son, president of Chuck Peterson Peter-son Motor Co., the 1967 "beetle" not only looks different differ-ent than last year's model, but also incorporates more major improvements than ever before. Many of them including one exterior change are American inspired. Stuart Perkins, Per-kins, president of Volkswagen of America, Inc., explained that "our new VW sedan incorporates incorpor-ates a number of important performance, comfort and convenience con-venience features winch Americans Ameri-cans have told us they want." He added: "And this year the 'beetle' we sell here actually is different differ-ent in appearance from the 'bug' built for other parts of the world. This shows up on the front fenders which have been slightly reshaped to pro- vide a new headlight mounting." mount-ing." Most of this year's major improvements in the "beetle" are less apparent, however, because be-cause they are built into rather than onto the car. For example, the brakes now have been engineered into a dual system utilizing a tandem-type master cylinder on each VW sedan and coupe. This assures that even if the front or rear half of the system sys-tem becomes inoperative, the other half still functions. |
