Show County planning meeting set next Thursday City, county, school, and planning officials throughout Utah County will meet in Provo Pro-vo on September 29, at 8:00 pm. to start on what is probably prob-ably the most intensive and far t reaching planning project ever undertaken in Utah County, according ac-cording to Commissioner David L. Greenwood. Nine study committees will be established. City Council-men, Council-men, County Commissioners, school board members and members of the City and Coun- ' ty Planning Boards, totaling approximately 300 people will be asked to study all phases of city and county development and to formulate or establish goals and policies which can be used to guide future development devel-opment in the county. The committees com-mittees will not be expected to draw specific plans, but we do want them to suggest general gen-eral guidelines for the technical techni-cal staff to follow in the prep- i aration of the Master Plans. i We have a great opportun- i " j ity to create one of the best ; '! living environments to be found ! ! j (cont. on back page, col. 4) ! i 11 County planning meet scheduled Thursday (continued from page one) anywhere in the nation, but it will require all of the committees commit-tees to work together. The meeting is being held in connection with the federally sponsored 701 program in which all of the cities and school boards in the county are participating. About one year ago the cities cit-ies and county received a grant of money from the Department of Housing and Urban Development Develop-ment with which to prepare comprehenisve plans. Since that time the county planning staff located in the County Building in Provo have been gathering basic data and preparing pre-paring maps as a part of the program. The next step will be to formulate goals and policies to guide development of the actual ac-tual plans. After the goals have been formulated part of the program pro-gram has then been completed which sould be by December 15, 1966. Ways and means will then be worked out to achieve the goals as recommended by the committees said Commissioner Commis-sioner Greenwood. |
