Declared a game animal by Utah's Fish and Game Commission Com-mission earlier this year, the cottontail will now receive adequate ade-quate protection by the establishment estab-lishment of a hunting season and bag limits. In past years, the cottontail cotton-tail was classed as a nongame animal and could be hunted at any time by anyone along with other rabbits such as the jack rabbit and snowshoe hare. Regulations , established by the Commission set the daily bag limit at 10 and the possession pos-session limit at 20, with no restrictions re-strictions on the type of firearm fire-arm which can be used to hunt cottontails. Well known for its excellent table qualities during winter months, the cottontail should provide Utahns with some excellent ex-cellent sport.
