Sweepstakes wins at Boise State University, Northwest College, California State Northridge and the University of California Berkeley, have primed the T-Bird team for the Air Force Tournament this weekend. "We're in top form, individually and as a squad," said M. L. Smith, SUSC lorensic coach- "We're planning to take Air Force this weekend; we won't take anything less than second place." Smith indicated that his squad, numbering around 45 students, is working together exceptionally well. "They're a highly motivated, highly talented group of individuals, and that's evident from this year's record." "A great many students are expressing interest in the SUSC loreasic program, from top-notch junior college transfers to really fine hieh school students," he said. "0:i the other hand, some of our finest students are being courted by some of the larger schools. They are that good, and that's one of the hazards of having a good squad." The squad is evenly balanced in debate and individual events, he said, with some tournaments won by debate, others by individual events and others as a total squad effort. "We were dynamite in debate at Northridge," Smith said, "both in speaker points and in team standings." Topping the list in that contest were Jerome Romero and Kelly Harvey, both from West Jordan, who took first in senior division debate.
