Show -r- ' Letter from Governor Maw Tells Of Status of St. George-Enterprise Road A racent issue of the News carried car-ried the copy of a letter written by B. A. Sweet of Escondido, Calif., to Governor Herbert B. Maw concerning the state highway high-way between St. George and Enterprise. En-terprise. Mr. Sweet owns a ranch along this highway and along with others was disappointed disap-pointed in the delay of promised improvements. Another letter from Mr. Sweet, with Governor Maw's reply, which clarifies the situation, follows: Governor's Letter Follows Dear Mr. Sweet: This will acknowledge receipt of your letter of November 5th regarding the road between St. George and Enterprise. I have not as yet checked with 'the Dis-. Dis-. trict Engineer as to when he intends in-tends to start work on that road. During my last conference with him he advised me that the people in Washington county wanted the Washington Field road in the St. George area taken care of firet and then the St. George-Enterprise George-Enterprise Wghway. However, in accordance with my promise to the people in Washington county, the road will be kept open this winter. I think that you will find that work will commence on it within the near future. The people of Enterprise, Veyo, Central, Pine Valley and St. George are concerned in the improvement im-provement of this highway, and have been assured that as soon as equipment is available from completing the Washington Field road, which it is understood should not be long, work will, go forward for-ward on the St. George-Enterprise road. School children are being transported trans-ported to and from school over this highway from Gunlock, Veyo and Central, and the school patrons are anxious that the road be made safer for travel. The shipment of potatoes and other produce will be materially affected af-fected by this improvement, which according to the Governor's letter let-ter will be made in the very near future. |
