Show St. George Cam? Sunday afternoon, September 19, Dr. D. E. Weidman, Ninth Corps Area Educational Director, Mrs. Weidman. Mr. Taylor, Assistant to Robert Fechner, Director of the Civilian Conservation Corps and E. W. Field, Fort Douglas District Dis-trict Educational Director, visited Company 255S. While Dr. Weidman and Director Direc-tor Field conferred with K. G. Anderson, Director of Camp Education, Edu-cation, Captain Klenk and Director Taylor made an inspection of the camp. Director Taylor is making an inspection of all CCC Camps in the Ninth Corps Area. Upon completion of the inspection inspec-tion the visitors left to inspect the camps in Boulder City, Nevada. Dr. Weidman and his wife are returning from Washington, D. C. where Dr. Weidman attended an educational conference of the Corps Area educational directors along with other notables connected connect-ed with CCC Camp education. Captain Vernon Peterson, Fort Douglas Inspector, inspected Company Com-pany 2558 for the month of September. Sep-tember. Upon completeion of the inspection Captain Peterson complimented com-plimented Captain Klenk on the splendid condition of the Camp.. Sunday evening the entire Company Com-pany turned out to listen to the lecture given on the topic, Citizenship Citizen-ship and One's Responsibility, by Chaplain Frederick Lamb, assistant assist-ant Fort Douglas chaplain. Following Follow-ing the interesting lecture Chap lain Lamb showed two silent comedy pictures to the Company. Earlier in the evening Chaplain Lamb met all the Catholic boys in the educational building for a short religious meeting. Monday morning at 6:30 Mass was said for all the Catholic boys and anyone else who wished to attend. The Company strength of Company Com-pany 2558 was diminished Monday afternoon when forty-five boys left camp to go back to Fort Knox, Kentucky, for disbursement to their homes in Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana. New "rookies" or replacements will be sent to refill the camp sometime in the forepart of October. Octo-ber. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Parker left for California and other places of interest where they will spend an eleven day leave. Lester Parker is a member of the technical staff of DG-45. W. A. Rupea, Division . of Grazing inspector from the Regional Region-al office in Salt Lake City, was an official visitor at DG-45 and Company Com-pany 2558 last Thursday and Friday. Fri-day. The educational program of CCC Company 2558, has begun to take shape for the winter months. New classes have begun in typing, taught by Evelyn Cannon at the Dixie College, social dancing taught by Maurine Whipple and a class in Photography instructed by Hugh A. Watson, a member of the DG personnel. Other classes will be organized in the near future to suit the needs and desires of the enrollees. |
