Show Stake MIA. Holds Outstanding Convention Here Saturday & Sunday The St. George Stake M. I. A. Convention held here last Saturday Satur-day and Sunday was largely attended at-tended and instructions were given by visiting members from the General Board. Members of the General Board in attendance were Miss Alice Palmer, Miss Aurelia Bennion, B. K. Farnsworth and J. E. Nelson. On Saturday evening at 6:30 the Stake Officers and others met with the General Board member in a round table discussion regarding re-garding the Improvement Era Campaign. At 7:30 a meeting was held at which the following subjects were discussed. "Let's go To Mutual", Mu-tual", "M. I. A. In Action Tuesday Tues-day evening." "Opportunities for Cultural Development," "Better Teaching" and the "Improvement Era Presentation." The welcome to all visitors at the convention was given by the Stake President. M. M. I. A. met for a discussion of the winters win-ters work. At the 2:00 o'clock session of General Conference all members of the General Board M. I. A. spoke. Miss Palmer told of the reading course outlined for the year and urged all to read it. Miss Bennion related the joys that come through association with young people and mentioned many of the difficulties confronting confront-ing them today. J. Edward Nelson told of the advancement made by the young people of Dixie who have gone out into the world and kept the commandments of the Lord. B. K. Farnsworth spoke of the benefits derived from attendance attend-ance to church duties and mentioned men-tioned outstanding points of interest inter-est he had seen during a recent trip over the Old Mormon Trail. A display of the quilts and clothing prepared for the Church Security project by the Mutuals was held in the basement of the Tabernacle and the South Ward ChapeL At 7:30 Sunday evening an inspirational in-spirational program was presented present-ed in which members of the General Board took part. Other numbers on the program consisted consist-ed of three numbers by the M. I. A. Chorus, "Song of Thanksgiving," Thanksgiv-ing," "King of Glory" and "Goodnight," "Good-night," the reading of Psalm 24 and short talks. |
