Show TOQUERVILLE SCHOOL NEWS P. T. A. meeting was held Wednesday evening, Feb. 10. Mr. Karl Fordham talked on "Community "Com-munity and Home Beautifica-tion," Beautifica-tion," after which a committee was appointed to investigate the advisability of planting a uniform tree along the main street of Toquerville. Feb. S we held our sclnol tryouts for spelling. Students winning a place on the school team were: Dawn Leamaster as school champion, with Fae Harris, Har-ris, Hazel Asay, Boyd Heywood, Maxine Slack and Wilma Klein-man Klein-man as other members of the team. Those students represented represent-ed our school at the contest in Hurricane, Feb. 12. Those students stu-dents who were successful in winning a place on the district team were: Fae Harris, Dawn Leamaster, and Wilma Kleinman with Maxine Slack as second alternate. During the basketball season we have participated in four games, winning three and losing los-ing one. Saturday afternoon our sixth grade boys played the Leeds school, winning by two points in the extra period. The sixth grade entertained the fourth and fifth grades Feb. 12 with a Lincoln program. Feb. 13 the first, second and third grades were entertained at a valentine party. The following students have had a perfect attendance record during the past five months of school: First grade Evadeen Beatty, Thelma Olds. Second grade George Slack. Third grade Bessie Beatty, Yvonne Jackson, Richard Olds, Ronald Seegmiller and Ben Slack. Third grade Lyman Dodge, Lois Olds, Weston Seegmiller and Dean Wallace. Fifth grade Mary Alice Bringhurst, Evelyn Slack, and Maxine Slack. Sixth grade Clark Olds, Kenneth Slack and Maree Beatty. Seventh grade Geraldin Seegmiller, Myrtle Myr-tle Dodge and Leona Brooks. These students represent twenty-five twenty-five precent of our school enrollment. |
