Show SUDDEN DEATH TAKES AGED PAYSON WOMAN Mrs. Matilda D. Dixon Passed Away Early Saturday Morning Morn-ing of Heart Trouble Mrs. Matilda Dixon, SO, of Payson, Utah, died at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. E. Glen Smith at St. George Saturday Sat-urday morning of acute dilation dila-tion of the heart. Although she had suffered with a slight cold for a few day previous, no undue un-due concern was felt over her condition until she became suddenly sud-denly ill Friday evening. She had been visiting here since December 23, 1931. Mrs. Dixon was born May 22, 1851 in Salt Lake City, a daughter daugh-ter of William and Agnes Cross Douglass, pioneers who came from Ireland to this state in 1848. In 1856 the family moved mov-ed to Payson, and she spent most of her life in that city. On June 24, 1872, she was married to Charles Hyrum Dixon Dix-on in the Endowment house at Salt Lake City. Primary, and a ward and stake I ie;:c-:r of the Relief Society. Surviving are a daughter and -en, Mrs. J. A. McClellan and William D. Dixon of Payson. i'er youngest son, Charles- F. Dixon died three years ago. Other survivors are 17 grandchildren grand-children and 11 great-grandchildren. Private funeral services for Mrs. Dixon were held Sunday at 1:30 p. m. at the Smith home under the direction of the West ward bishopric with Calvin Dalton presiding. The opening musical number was a vocal solo by Dilworth M. Snow, "Oh, My Father". Prayer, O. S. Taylor. The speakers were Dr. W. C. Cox and President Geori;e F. Whitehead. Mary McGregor and Mona Reber sang, "The Lord is My Shepherd". Benediction was by Mathew M. Bentley. i Immediately following the services the body was taken to Payson where public services were held Wednesday, and interment in-terment was in the Payson City cemetery. Ml-s. Dixon's daughter,, Mrs. J. A. McClellan and daughter, Agnes came down from Payson Saturday, and returned Monday, Mon-day, accompanied by Mrs. Wm. D. Dixon who had spent the past two months here. |
