This S I sponsored annually and is the yjj event of the year in Manila. rn Reed, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. ivd Reed has been chosen as the L'in to reign over the two-day event. Crodeo will start each day at 1 p.m. idanee will be held at 9 o'clock Satur day evening at the Manila High School gymnasium. A pancake breakfast will be held at the Senior Citizen Center on Sunday morning. Another day has been added to the Sanitary Landfill schedule. Monday is still pickup day, but trash may be hauled to the landfill from 9 a.m. until un-til 12 noon on Mondays if Monday is not a holiday. If Monday is a holiday, the landfill is open the same time on Tuesday. Tues-day. On Thursday the landfill is open from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. On Saturday, it is open from 9 a.m. until 12 noon. All trash in vehicle must be covered. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gutz are parents of a boy born in the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City on Saturday, July 9. The little man weighed 8 pounds and 4 ounces at birth and will be named John Duane. His maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Duane Lamb of Manila. His paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. John Gutz of Sheridan, Wyoming. Mr. and Mrs. William E. Robinson and Mrs. George Ellsworth attended funeral services for Russell Petersen in Logan on July 6. Russell Petersen was the father-in-law of Robinson's in Houston. The ground at the elementary school just west of the tennis courts is being prepared for planting a new lawn. Mrs. Stacy Bodily and two children of Kaysville have been visiting with Mrs. Bodily's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Coleman for the past two weeks. She plans to return home Wednesday. A Veterans of Foreign Wars organization is being organized at 8 p.m. at the Daggett County Courthouse on Friday, July 15. If anyone has any questions concerning the meeting prior to the meeting they may call John Welder, 784-2359. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Holmes and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Dieton of Layton were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Coleman. Mr. and Mrs. Leo McConnell of Clinton, Utah were guests of the Lee Coleman's this weekend. While they were here, they, the Colemans, Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Potter and two grandchildren, grand-children, Ester Larsen and her granddaughter grand-daughter Meranda and Ester's daughter and two children of Vernal visited the museum in Vernal and the Dinosaur Museum. The M & L Homemakers will hold the July club meeting at the home of Kathy Meinrod on July 19 at 7 p.m. The 4-H girls will present a fashion show. Hostesses for the meeting are Kathy Meinrod, Wanda Larson, and Linda Beckstead. Mr. and Mrs. James Meade of Layton have been visiting in the mountains. moun-tains. On Saturday evening Mr. and Mrs. Lee Coleman joined them for a fish fry. Recently Mr. and Mrs. Norman W. Long, their daughter Mrs. Bryan ( Jana) Tinker and six children; Mrs. Teryl (Sheryl) Collett and four children of Greendale, Utah and Mr. and Mrs. Devan Long of Green River, Wyoming attended the farewell of Mrs. Long's nephew Lynn Bigelow at the Vernal Sixth Ward. Following a dinnner they attended a family gathering at the home of Lynn's parents Mr. and Mrs. Larry Bigelow. This gathering included a planned potluck dinner on the patio with 48 family members attending. The weather reached a new high temperature for this year on July 7 when the thermometer read 90 degrees above zero. |
