Naples Truck Stop, off and running The Naples Truck Stop is now officially of-ficially open for business and ready to serve the Ashley Valley as well as tourists and truckers just passing through, according to manager Jack Xowak. j Id grand opening ceremonies last ' pjiiay, Naples City Mayor Lawrence Kay and the Dinamites officially welcomed the truck stop to the area and wished the company success. The Naples Truck Stop is part of the Valley Petroleum Company chain of stops. This is the first built outside of Colorado. Valley Petroleum is based in Glenwood Springs, Colo. They have been in business for over 30 years. ot only will the Naples Truck Stop nave highway facilities, they also are a totally integrated truck stop, with all facilities for truckers. They will pro-tide pro-tide truckers with a ride to and from local motels, in order that the trucker may leave his rig under the care of the Naples Truck Stop. Since they will be open 24 hours a day, it minimizes the possibilities of vandalism. Valley Petroleum will also have delivery services to trucking firms and oilfields. They will carry Union 76 lubricants of all kinds, selling in bulk, by the drum, and by the case. They plan to have four permanent delivery trucks stationed in the Ashley Valley. The facility has a storage capacity of 12,000 gallons of fuel. The automobile gas pumps are totally total-ly self serve, and they sell under the Exxon name. The cafe has a seating capacity of 44. They serve fast foods and full meals. Nowak says this is the kind of place no one need concern themselves about bringing their mother in for a meal. The Naples Truck Stop was contracted con-tracted by Valley Petroleum Company to William L. Elder, Builder, Inc., of San Antonio, Texas. Mr. and Mrs. Elder have over 25 years in the construction con-struction industry, including building, hiring, and training personnel, setting up systems and accounting procedures through the operational stages of commercial com-mercial businesses. The remodeling of the old Acme Tool building commenced the second week of March and the facility officially opened June 27. Their policy has always been to hire local subcontractors subcontrac-tors and this philosophy contributes to the local economy and allows local people to take a continuing pride in their accomplishments. Mr. Elder said it has been a pleasure to be associated with the local subcontractors subcon-tractors and people connected with the construction of the Naples Truck Stop in producing a "first class" facility. With the Naples Truck Stop now in operation, the Elders are returning to San Antonio to construct a nursing home, medical clinic, and apartment complex. The Elders have expressed ' their regret at leaving the many friendly people they have met in the Ashley Valley area and will miss the friends and employees they have worked with at the Truck Stop. |
