Show Jensen girlfriends meet after 72 years apart For the first time in 72 years Leoma McCain Iverson, now of St. George, Utah and Leona Rasmussen Jorgensen of Vernal got back together last week. When the two ladies were just little girls, about 12 years old, they were girlfriends living in the Jensen area. Oh, the fun times they had, and they still remember them. "Leona and I used to go to the sheep ranches and cook and wash dishes," Mrs. Iverson said. "I don't know how good of cooks we were, but sometimes we wouldn't get home until after dark. "One time we were walking through an alfalfa field in the dark and saw something jump out. It scared us pretty pret-ty bad and we ran to my house. Leona was so scared, I walked her home. "Come to find out later it was my dad with a red hanky tied on his face and making a funny racket. He loved to tease children," Mrs. Iverson said with a twinkle of youth still in her eyes. "We also used to have a blue boat that we used to net fish with on the Green River. We'd all go down and clean the fish and put them in barrels with ice. From Jensen to Vernal we would stop to ask people if they would like to buy the fish. Finally the law stopped that," Mrs. Iverson said. In 1911 Mrs. Iverson moved from Jensen when she was 13 years old. At first the two girls wrote to each other often but after a while they only wrote on each other's birthday and other holidays. "My birthday is Aug. 3, and Leona's I could always remember because it was on Aug. 13," Mrs. Iverson said. The two ladies spent Friday last week in their old hometown noting some of the differences between now and then. The bridge is the same and so is the old store. The church is in the same place, but has been remodeled several times, the ladies said. Aunt Susie's house is still there. With 73 years separatir i : ladies they had a lot of fet:.i caught up on.
