Show QteCto The Uintah journalism class put out their first newspaper of the year on Monday, Jan. 5. The paper, "Smoke Signal" included stories about tne musical, detention, Christmas activities ac-tivities and a number of editorials and sports articles. The "Smoke Signal will be putting out a paper every two weeks. Region competition begins for most of the Ute teams this week. The wrestlers opened their season Wednesday Wed-nesday night at Murray. The girls basketball team plays Cyprus at Cyprus in their first region encounter, and the boys basketball team will meet the Pirates of Cyprus on Friday. The game will be played at the junior high because of the Vernal wrestling tournament which will be Friday and Saturday. The gymnastics team began preparing for competition this week. Their first meet is in February. This year's team is a young one, with only one senior, but some promising juniors and sophomores will add depth which the team lacked last year. January 16 marks the end of the first semester for students at Uintah. Any class changes must be made through advisors and must be approved by parents, teachers and advisors. Changes are strongly discouraged, but if they must be made, it should be before Jan. 16. January is also the time for seniors to start making plans for college. Scholarship applications, admission applications and many other forms are being completed and sent at this time. If you are still waiting or have questions, see Mr. Orton for counseling. |
