Show Altamont and Duchesne lose first round hoop contests Duchesne and Altamont dropped first round contests in the Class 1-A State Tournament on March 18. Altamont, the third place team from Region 11, was toppled by Beaver, the fourth place crew from Region 12. 65 to 47 and Duchesne, the fourth place crew from Region 11. was edged by Panguitch, the third place team from Region 12. 59 to 52. Beaver had a 15 to 10 lead at the end of the first quarter and had a 25 to 16 lead after two quarters. The Beaver Beavers had a 46 to 32 advantage at the end of the third quarter and the Beaver crew went on to w in the game by the score of 65 to 47. Rob Lindsay was the top scorer for Altamont with 17 points. He fired in six field goals and hit 5 out of 6 free throws. David Brotherson popped in 11 points. He put in five field goals and hit 1 out of 3 free throws. Also scoring points for Altamont were Lindon Hansen. 7; Wayne Miles, 6; Mike Todd, 4 and Eddie Fisher, 2. Altamont put in 19 field goals and hit 9 out of 17 free throws. Beaver's high scorers were Jess Cox and David Eyre at 21 points. Cox put in eight field goals and was 5 for 5 from the foul line. Eyre fired in nine field goals and popped in 3 out of 4 free throws. The Beavers flipped in 25 field goals and tossed in 15 out of 19 free throws. Duchesne won the fourth quarter as they outscored Panguitch. 22 to 20, but the Panguitch crew won the contest by the score of 59 to 52.
