It is the first time he has ever started a game. I thought he was as strong when he finished as when he started," stated Uintah High School baseball coach, Monty Lee. Uintah has a 1-0 record due to the victory over the Union Cougars, "We looked ragged at times on defense, but they (Uintah) played well for the first game. We made contact with the ball. We had first game jitters, but we played well," said Lee. "We have good speed in Rick Morton. Mark Robb and Randy Smuin and in our other ' players." Lee added. "We received a great effort from catcher, Chad Stringham. He jammed his fingers and he might need some stitches, but he played the entire game and tagged out a Union runner at home plate and threw out a base runner at third base." remarked I-ee. One of the most unusual plays in the game took place in the top of the third inning. Lonnie Sammaripa was at second base for Union, but Uintah pitcher, Reynolds, went into a full windup.
