Show IDENTIFYING A BEDBUG A bedbug is a wingless parasite. It is noted by science as an insect. A bedbug sucks the blood of cattle, poultry, man and warm-blooded animals. There are over 35 species. The common bedbug known to man is about 15 ; of an inch long, has a flattened flat-tened body and is a rusty red color. During the day a bedbug bed-bug will hide in the furniture, fur-niture, walls and floors and about beds. This nocturnal noc-turnal insect seems to prefer to surface at night to obtain a meal. It is believed that the "insect transmits a variety of diseases. When it bites, it secretes a fluid into the system which causes itching it-ching and may cause a sore. The eggs of the female bedbug are laid in the cracks and nooks of walls, and furniture. It takes only a week for the eggs to hatch into larvae. From the egg stage to adult, bedbugs require about four to seven weeks to develop. An adult bedbug can live for several years without eating, drawing its nutrition from its last meal. A young bedbug can survive for several months between meals. |
