Show Missionary work theme of Ashley Stake conference "Missionary work is the best way to love our neighbors, seek out non-members non-members and invite them to your homes. From one candle we can light thousands. Let our light so shine. If we love our neighbors and are our brothers keeper we should share the gospel." These excerpts were stressed by Elder Angel Abrea, member of the First Quorum of Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the first general authority from Argentina. Elder Abrea presided at the Vernal Utah Ashley Stake conference Saturday Satur-day andSunday. Maria Abrea, wife of Elder Abrea, spoke at the Sunday morning conference telling of the importance of women in the church and to their husbands. The Sunday morning general session was conducted by Pres. Nyle C. Bigelow who spoke concerning the growth in the area and many new people coming to Vernal. "We must not run like animals. ..we must have true Christian conduct and be considerate and thoughtful of others." Other speakers at the general session of conference included Pres. Don Brown, who talked on tithing and what it has meant to his family. Joan Rob-bins Rob-bins spoke about the blessings coming to her family by activity in the church. Anna Morrison spoke on ways the Lord blesses women in Relief Society ser-vice. ser-vice. Janice Bigelow, wife of Pres. Bigelow, spoke about her experiences in church service. Glen Spencer, Seventies President, spoke on missionary work and Patriarch Bert L. Angus told of the importance of being prepared to meet the Saviour again. The business of the conference was conducted by Pres. Glade Watkins. The following persons were released: Glendon R. The following persons were sustained: Grant Southam, High Councilor; Charles M. Preece, alternate alter-nate High Councilor; Shelia Belcher, RS Stake Pres., RaNae Labrum, RS 1st Counselor; Fay Howells, RS 2nd Counselor; Rojean Bassett, RS Secretary; Celia Baker, RS Music Director; Nyle Warburton, Stake Young Men's President; Robert Gilbert, YM 1st Counselor; Dennis Hoopes, YM 2nd Counselor; Gordon Bailey, YM Secretary: Elva Allred, Stake Director of Libraries and Kathleen Hadlock. Stake Primary Inservice leader. To receive the Melchizedek Priesthood and be ordained Elders were: Cecil Hueling Massey, Dale Griffis, Scott Gerald Dimick, Glendon Harvey Workman. Andrew Curtis Beal, Daniel Potter Lorimor Jr., Mark David Migliori. To be ordained a Seventy was Randall Arthur Deets. Special musical numbers at the conference were sung by the Vernal Fourth Ward choir. |
