' one here had any knowledge of : meeting until it happened," City I ' "Jger Kenneth Bassett said. "Even -Uintah Basin Health Department "I'tknow about it." Wtwding to Rand Webb, Uintah J Health director, who was at the -fl, no action was taken at the ''H and the rating on the water as in the valley stood the way : "ere: Vernal City, unapproved-ective unapproved-ective action; Maeser, unap-f; unap-f; Jensen, unapproved and the Valley District, unapproved. The unapproved rating has stopped federal loan guarantees outside Vernal City. The reason why everyone but Vernal City is unapproved is because the other three haven't obtained a letter of committment for financing a treatment plant. Vernal City has confirmed financing through the Central Utah Water Conservancy District. The other three entities have decided not to go with CUWCD, Webb said. Dan Turner, Maeser Improvement District, was present at the meeting, but said he was not prepared to make a statement because he hadn't been notified of the meeting. The Safe Drinking Water Committee said they would be ready to make a change in the water rating when they have a letting of funding, Webb said. Bassett, who also attended the meeting, said that nothing was ac-' ac-' complished in the meeting pertaining to Vernal because entities effected most were not advised of it. Concerning the notification, Webb said the Committee's Executive Secretary Gayle Smith failed to get the notice of the meeting out. Smith is still unavailable for comment. com-ment. According to Webb the state has sent several letters to the Ashley Valley Sewer Board requesting information about the water system and has never received a reply. A meeting scheduled for Sept. 23 in Vernal was cancelled because members mem-bers of the board were unable to attend. The purpose of that meeting was to determine if local water entities had made substantial progress toward a treatment plant. |
