A change in the specifications were made and all bids were rejected and a new revised segment seg-ment five was advertised and bid Oct. 7. In using native asphalt instead of hot mix $93,325 was saved over the former low hot mix bid made by Van Stavern. Total cost of the 30 mile direct route highway adding the five awarded bids amounts to $12,819,521. The engineer's estimate for segment five with native asphalt was $2,051,659 and $2,044,778 using hot mix. Four bids were submitted in the last bidding. Currently, H-K Contractors,' Idaho Falls, is working on segments one and two from the DG&T access road to the Green River bridge site. W. W. Clyde is working on the bridge which is segment three and L. A. Young Company has the fourth segment from the Green River bridge to the outskirts of Davis south of Vernal. The first two road segments will use hot mix surfacing and the last two will use native asphalt. It is expected to take about a year and a half to construct the Green River bridge and by this time all four segments of road should also be finished, finish-ed, according to Uintah Engineer officials, of-ficials, who have done all the engineer work. Funding for the energy resource highway is being worked out by DG&T, the state of Utah and Uintah County. Pre-paid taxes and energy resource funds will make up the nearly $13 million outlay, according to Uintah County Commissioners. |
