Show Local Medical care criticized Dear Editor: A while back we took our small grandchild to the hospital to the Emergency Room. The doctor on call that night was very nice and considerate, con-siderate, but he decided x-rays were in order to determine just what was wTong, if anything. Well, after waiting quite a while, the x-ray technician finally showed up very unhappy with us having to be there at all, which he made very plain. Now given the benefit of the doubt, maybe he had had a rough day, but we were concerned about our baby. If they are that overworked, maybe they need more replacements or something. I was born and raised here in this town and I love it but this hospital and some of the doctors leave very much to be desired. The doctors act as if they don't have time for sick people, just for the money in it. I could name a bunch of cases that I have heard about where patients were told nothing was wrong with them and were sent home, where they immediately died. Now why wasn't time taken to see if their complaints were valid or not? Last summer, for instance, my grandmother was taken to the doctor complaining of a pain in her side. The doctor told her there was nothing wrong with her. She died the next morning. Of nothing? We have had countless people in this hospital, where if the people on duty weren't told by us certain medicine was to be given, they would never have gotten it. Maybe there needs to be an investigation in-vestigation here like there was over the nursing homes in Salt Lake City. Only here it should be this hospital and our doctors. I am not saying that there are not good people, but they have sure gotten lazy where people's lives are concerned. I think it is time that we the people stop taking this abuse and stand up and fight for decent care, there might even be a few less funerals. Thanks, a very concerned citizen. MRS. RAYMOND HALLORAN |
