Show Property tax notices mailed, contain refund forms Uintah County property tax notices were mailed to nearly 11,000 property owners Friday of last week and Monday Mon-day of this week, according to County Treasurer Frances P. Southam. Two problems added to the work of getting this year's tax notices out, causing them to be about a month later than usual, said Mrs. Southam. One delay was caused when the Central Utah Water Conservancy District mill levy was changed after many counties had gone ahead with making out the tax notices. The second burden added to this year's tax notice mailing was the requirement to send every homeowner a Utah general homeowners tax refund form. This added over 1,000 additional mailings to property owners whose tax notices go direct to their mortgage agents. Homeowners and renters must apply for tax refunds to the Utah State Tax Commission by December 31, 1979 to be eligible for refunds. The Utah tax refund proposal is presently in the Utah Supreme Court waiting on a decision on its constitutionality. Every Utah renter and homeowner is eligible and should file a claim. If the refund action is approved the checks will be mailed directly to the renters and homeowners. |
