Show i School board ; accepts donation The Uintah School Board of Education reversed a prior action and accepted a sidewalk donation from Jim Zumbo. In a previous meeting of the board a donation of a sidewalk on Zumbo's property used as a short cut for j students walking to Maeser Elementary Elemen-tary school was rejected because the I board didn't want to assume the j liability. In the Oct. 25 meeting the board felt flat the safety merits of the sidewalk outweighed the liability aspect," said Superintendent Wayne Reid. The board also heard a protest by Sure Carpets for awarding the bids for carpeting the new elementary school to Cii's Carpets since Sure Carpets was " the low bidder. The board pointed out flat they have the right to accept or reject any or all bids. A letter from the N.U. Service Center superintendents and sent to all nine board of education members was read. The letter protested the extracurricular ex-tracurricular activities which necessitated student leaving school for activities on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Activities are to be held after school on Thursday, daytime hours on Friday and Saturday daytime hours and evenings, stated the letter. This is already policy, although waived this year, all principals and coaches are instructed that this policy will not be waived next year, and they must arrange their region schedules accordingly. ac-cordingly. Breaking of contracts by employees was reviewed. Attorney McKeachnie recommended the fee be changed from $250 to $1000 for breaking a contract. This was approved on first reading. |
