Show Posse Called Saturday To Assist in Search Two coed students at Castle Valley Institute were rimrocked on a high sandrock nearly all night Saturday before being rescued by students at the school, and local authorities au-thorities about 5 a.m. Sunday. The students were seen waving from the rock, located across the highway and about 1 12 miles from the school, at about 5 p.m. Saturday, but did not appear to be in any trouble at the time. Authorities at the institute in-stitute notified the Grand County Sheriff of the lost girls at about midnight. Sheriff W.H. Bowman, and Cliff Aldridge of the (J rand County .Jeep Posse ' went to Castle Valley to help with search and rescue re-scue activities. Students at the institute insti-tute traveled the area in a Dodge power wagon, driven by a local rancher, ranch-er, and the girls were finally located by calling out. Spotlights were set on the rock to assist rescuers. Although rescue re-scue units drove by the camp of the hunters who had sighted the girls, the campers were not questioned ques-tioned and did not know the girls were in trouble. Temperatures during the night dropped to near freezing, but the girls were reported' to have suffered no other ill consequences con-sequences from their experience ex-perience than cold, hunger hung-er and exhaustion. - |
