Show tfferfi Mineral Activity At Hiqh Level Utah mineral industry activities this week continue con-tinue to push on to high levels in practically all forms of mineral commodities, com-modities, according to Carlton Stowe, Utah Geological Geo-logical & Mineral Survey staff specialist. Increased oil & gas activity ac-tivity primarily is a result re-sult of demands on energy supplies and materials. Fourteen new wells, producing pro-ducing from 400 to 3,070 barrels each, have been completed; 11 new well locations received State Oil & Gas Division approval ap-proval for drilling recently, re-cently, and a seven million mil-lion dollar acquisition involving Altamont-Blue-bell properties was reached. January to July figures released by the U. S. Bureau of Mines show Utah's Copper production reaching 150,890 tons, Lead slightly more than 7,942 tons, and Zinc production pro-duction at 9,844 tons. New well completions are centered in the Blue-bell-Altamont area of Duchesne Du-chesne County. Gulf Oil Company completed four wells from depths of 12,600 feet, flowing from 1,489 to 3,070 barrels each -- daily. Shell Oil brought-in two more successes flowing 343 and 876 barrels daily and Mapco added another two producers to its growing list in the Altamont field. In southeastern Utah, Texaco Inc., completed two wells in the Aneth area, and a success was completed in southern Utah's Mexican Hat field. New locations are scheduled to be drilled in varied areas of Utah. Mountain Fuel Supply will drill two new exploratory wells, one in Emery County and the other in San Juan County. The Emery County well is a projected 7,200 foot test in the Flat Canyon area some 15 miles northwest of Huntington. The San Juan County test is a scheduled 6,150 foot well to be drilled about 15 miles southeast of Mont-icello. Mont-icello. Energetics- Inc., of Englewood, Colorado, has scheduled another well in Carbon County, about a mile and a half northeast of Clear Creek.
