Show Efforts of Moabite Praised by Motorist An act of valor by a Moab citizen saved the life of a Layton, Ut., truck driver on Oct. 10, and he has written to Mayor Winford Bunce to tell the story. James H. Gilbert, driving a loaded crude oil tanker south of Monti-cello, Monti-cello, had "an accident and was caught in the burning wreckage of the truck cab. Jack Kimmell, Moab, driver of a P.I.E. tanker, arrived on the scene immediately, and pulled Gilbert free from the cab, saving his life. He also put out the blaze, preventing what would have been a major fire had the crude oil caught fire. Gilbert states in his letter, "Along with the highest degree of professionalism, pro-fessionalism, Mr. Kimmell Kim-mell demonstrated a willingness to become involved which is a rare trait in today's world. I will be forever grateful grate-ful to Mr. Kimmell for his efforts." He also noted that at the time of the accident Kimmell had a broken arm in a cast. |
