Show ; Frontier Lists Record Profits for Period i Frontier Airlines, i Denver-based regional ; carrier serving 109 com-. com-. munities in 16 states, today to-day reported record ear-: ear-: ' nings for the first nine - months of 1973. A. L. Feldman, pres-) pres-) ident and chief executive 1 officer, said Frontier's nine months' netearnings . of $6,859,000 ($1.03 per share) exceeded that of ; any similar period in the carrier's history, and ! bettered Frontier's ear-. ear-. nings of $6,214,000 ($.94 i per share) in the like ; 1972 period. Net income for the third quarter of 19c J was $2,411,000 ($.36 per share) as compared to a net profit of $3,139,000 ($.47 per share) for the same period in 1972. The lower level of net income for the third quarter quar-ter of 1973 as compared to 1972 was accounted for by the favorable impact im-pact on Frontier in 1972 of another carrier's strike, and "by a reduction reduc-tion since July 1, 1973, in the level of subsidy, Mr. Feldman said. Frontier is now receiving recei-ving Subsidy income under a temporary class rate, "which we anticipate antici-pate will be finalized by the Civil Aeronautics Board by the end of 1973 at a rate higher than the current temporary rate," he said. Record operating revenues re-venues for the third quarter quar-ter totalled $33,260,000 compared with $29,244,-000, $29,244,-000, and operating revenues reve-nues for the nine months, also a record, were $94,794,000, up from $80,710,000 in the similar sim-ilar 1972 period. Revenue passenger miles for the third quarter quar-ter were 352,654,000 up 13.5 from the same period per-iod a year ago, and for the nine months totalled 966,160,000, up 18.4 from the like 1972 period. Frontier's president said that although impact of the projected shortage of aviation fuel is not yet clearly known, "we expect ex-pect to continue performance perfor-mance at a satisfactory level and anticipate a profitable fourth quarter." quar-ter." ie sk sk sk 3k 5k sfc sk ik ifc k tie sL |
