Show Homecoming Had the Red Devils "All Fired Up" Last Week by Pam Winters and Julie Markle Homecoming festivities festivi-ties were held last week for GCIIS. The theme for thisyear was "Devils All Fired Up." Seniors, juniors, sophomores so-phomores and freshmen began working on their floats Saturday, Oct. 20 at 12 midnight, basing the floats on this theme. Classes were given until un-til Thursday midnight to complete them. Monday, Pam Winters, Cala Wyatt, Sandy Chavez, Cha-vez, Jana Curfman, Barbara Bar-bara Harris and Vicki Stainbrook distributed posters to each Devil's lawn, some of which suffered suf-fered the effects of weather. Tuesday through Friday Fri-day the student body showed their spirit through apparel. Tuesday Tues-day - Sock it To 'Em Day, students wore var- ious socks have bright colors with their pant legs rolled up. Wednesday Wednes-day - Boot 'Em Day, everyone wore the most conspicuous boots they could find. Thursday -Tie 'Km Up Day, everything every-thing from bow ties to ties resembling bibs were worn. Friday - Hats Off (to the Devils) Day, everyone wore hats. Thursday night at 7 p.m., the Homecoming Bonfire was held. The cheerleaders led a few cheers to get everybody in the mood of Homecoming. Home-coming. Friday morning at 11 a.m., the Queen's. Assembly As-sembly was held with Cala Wyatt as Master of Ceremonies. Royalty was escorted by John Smith and Mike Holyoak. Becky Young, junior attendant, at-tendant, was escorted by Mike Waltershied and Jay West. Kerrie Jensen, senior attendant, was escorted es-corted by Mitch Kelling and Stan Holland. Liz Ruggeri, our Homecoming Homecom-ing Queen of 1973-74, was escorted and crowned crown-ed by Gene Roberts and Kevin McFarland. The queen and her attendants at-tendants received roses from flower carriers Bluzette Ossana, Kimi Ford, Michelle Bonsor and Nicky Chavez. Mike Arehart, accompanied by Jo Anne Cox sang "Cherish" "Cher-ish" to the royalty. Guest speakers for this year's assembly were Mrs. Christine Holland, mother moth-er of halfback Stan Holland, Hol-land, Sue Nordfelt, homecoming queen of 1972 - 73, and Steve Wyatt, alumnus of 1972-73. 1972-73. Musical numbers for the assembly were given by Tim Hoffman, Kelly Halls, Sue Danielson and Sandy Chavez. There we re also a few skits. Cheerleaders performed a special dance to "Smoke on the Water" and the GCHS Devilettes did a drill. Friday at 3 p.m. was the Homecoming Parade. This included all the floats, band, drill team, cheerleaders and, of course, royalty. The sophomore so-phomore class took fourth on their float; freshmen took third place; seniors took second se-cond place; and the juniors jun-iors placed first. Congratulations! Con-gratulations! Friday at 6 p.m. the Snake dance was held on Main Street. Liz Ruggeri, Rug-geri, homecoming queen and varsity cheerleader, led the snake. At 7:30 p.m., pre - game was held. The band played a few numbers and fathers of the senior football players received pennies with their son's number printed on them. At 8 p.m. the game was held between East Carbon Car-bon Vikings and the Mighty Moab Red Devils. The scor was 44-7 with the Devils taking victory. Halftime, the royalty was presented, honored by the band. Cindy Key gave a special number twirling her baton. The Devilettes did a well-performed well-performed drill. At 10 p.m. the homecoming home-coming dance was held. The band performing was County. The dance was bery sucessful. Congratulations to the homecoming royalty, the Devils, and all the people peop-le who made Homecoming Home-coming '73-'74 a memorable me-morable and exciting event.
