Show Livestock Allotments Due Hearing at Coming Meet Livestock allottment management man-agement plans being developed develop-ed by the U.S. Department of the Interior's Bureau of Land Management in connection with grazing environmental impact statements will receive special attention at a meeting of the BLM Utah multiple use advisory board March 4 in Provo. As a result of a recent court decision, the BLM in the next 13 years must prepare 20 grazing ElSes for Utah. Work being done on the first EIS (for most of Washington County) will be discussed at the March 4 meeting. The twelve-member board also will consider rights-of-way corridors-whether several sever-al should be channeled through thro-ugh certain carefully selected areas or whether they should be spaced out. Comments of the board members will help the bureau establish practices which should be less offensive to the aesthetics, according to Paul L. Howard, BLM state director for Utah. Members of the board are Miss Genevieve Atwood, Mrs. Mildred Ehrman, Gordon Harmston, Paul Rattle, and Carlton H. Stowe, all of Salt Lake City; J. Raymond Spencer, Spen-cer, Draper; Dr. Thad. Box, Logan; Merrill MacDonald, Kanab; Orrin P. Miller, Tooele; Kenneth S. Summers, Monticello; Glen P. Willard-son, Willard-son, Richfield, and Vernon Wilson, Midway. They represent repre-sent nine public interests in multiple use management of the BLM-administered national nation-al resource lands in Utah: education and research, environmental envi-ronmental and cultural protection, pro-tection, energy, livestock, local government, state government, gov-ernment, recreation, wildlife and mining. Board members will convene con-vene March 4 at 8:30 a.m. in the Rodeway Inn, 1292 South University Avenue, Provo. Opportunities for brief statements state-ments from the public to the board will be provided at 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Mr. Howard said. Persons desiring to make statements should advise the BLM State Director, P.O. Box 11505, Salt Lake City, Utah 84147 no later than February 27. |
