Show Patrol Investigates Truck Wreck A truck accident was investigated investi-gated by the Utah Highway Patrol Feb. 6 at 5:15 a.m. and the driver was cited for failure to control his vehicle. On US 50-6 12 miles east of Green River Wallace L. Pittman, Phoenix, Az., was driving west in a semi-truck and double trailer owned by Rio Grande Motor Way, a Salt Lake City based operation, bound for Salt Lake City with a load of miscellaneous freight. The rear trailer started to whip and the driver lost control of the truck, according to investigating Trooper Jesse Powell. The rig went down into the bottom of a wash; the front trailer rolled, started to burn and came to rest on part of the cab, with the rear trailer remaining upright on the shoulder of the road. The driver was given first aid by a motorist and taken to Allen Memorial Hospital in the Green River ambulance. Two Green River fire trucks responded re-sponded to the fire. Damage to the truck and trailer was estimated at $75,000, a total loss. |
