Show Police Investigate Acts of Mischief, Accidents Moab Police investigated a number of accidents and incidents of malicious mischief during the week. On Feb. 3 sometime in the afternoon in the high school parking lot, a parked 1972 Ford belonging to Bill Meador was hit by an unknown vehicle, and sustained about $150 damage. The accident is still under investigation. On Feb. 4 at 6:30 p.m. Verna Melo was backing a 1976 Chevrolet from the Golden Stake parking lot. As she backed onto the highway she hit a 1973 Dodge pickup driven by Eileen Netschke. Ms. Melo was cited for improper lookout, causing an accident. At 8:20 p.m. on Feb. 4 at 46 S. 4th East, Jay Marshall's 1952 Chevrolet pickup was hit while it was parked and sustained about S200 damage. The other vehicle left the scene of the accident. On Feb. 5 Police Chief Dalton impounded im-pounded a 1968 Chevrolet belonging to John C. Pipkin, and it was identified as the hit and run vehicle. Observers at the scene reported it had two occupants at the time of the accident. This is still under investigation. On Feb. 5 at about 4:50 p.m. on Main and 1st South, Frederick Stoye was driving south in a 1968 Ford pickup. Ada Holyoak, driving a 1968 Ford, was making a left turn and the Stoye vehicle struck her vehicle, causing about S50 damage to the Holyoak vehicle and $150 to the Stoye vehicle. Ms. Holyoak was cited for making an improper left turn, causing an accident. At 12:30 a.m. Feb. 7 Michael R. McDougall, Green River, had parked his 1974 Toyota on 1st North and an unknown vehicle ran into it, doing about $400 damage. This is still under investigation. investiga-tion. Sometime during the morning mor-ning of Feb. 7 a window was knocked out of the Louis' Chevron Station at Main and Kane Creek Blvd., and the cash register, containing about $100 was taken. The same night there was an incident of criminal mischief at Valley Home and Auto where the door was opened by breaking a lock, however nothing was taken. In addition that night there was some damage done to a door at the Moab Service Center. |
