Show ! IaW Boy Scout j j Activities j The annual FatherSon banquet ban-quet of the Boy Scouts of America was.held successfully last Friday night, February 6 with approximately 400 A&; tending. The banquet is held each year in connection with Boy Scout Week, February 8-14. Tom Burr, District Chairman, Chair-man, and Mark Hale, District Executive presented several awards at the dinner. James Walker was presented with the District Special Leadership Award, an award that is given to only one individual in the district at a time. Second Miler Awards were given to Fred Noyes, Leroy Walker, Dahl Zohner and Shirley Lance for their extra service to scouting. After the chicken dinner, a small program was conducted by the Order of the Arrow with David Pack acting as Master of Ceremonies. The Blazar B patrol of Troop 310 conducted a flag ceremony. Troy Atwood, a recent Webolo scout talked about the cubbing program. Douglas Rowley, a new scout, also talked. The Exploring program was the subject of Rusty Tangreen's speech. Robert Raymond and Randy Stewart told about the Order of the Arrow. In addition, Jim Snell spoke of his feeling and experiences during years of working towards and attaining his Eagle. Door prizes were then given out. We would like to thank those merchants and individuals indivi-duals who contributed in any way to the success of the banquet. A special thank you is extended to Ralph Miller, Jr. from Miller's Supermarket and to Gene Cary from City Market for the chicken and the preparation of the meal. Merchants contributing to the door prizers were: Burr's American Station, Dr. Paul Mayberry, Leavitt's Texaco Station, Grand Tire Center, Custom Craft, Sabo's Electronic, Elec-tronic, Plateau Service 79, McDougald Oil Co., Moab Lanes, Carroll's Archery, All American Realty, Family Budget Bud-get Clothing, Gift Shop Jewelry, Jewel-ry, Spencer's Stationery, Dr. Jay P. Munsey, Family Drug Center, Royce's Electronics, Desert Edge Sundries, Millers Clothing, Canyonlands Auto Parts. Door prizes were also contributed by some merchants mer-chants from Green River, but we do not have the list available. ' |
