Show Officials View Preliminary Drawings on Center A committee representing Grand County, Moab City, Grand School District and the Moab Chamber of Commerce, and Moab Museum, met Tuesday night with architect Jack Ehlers of Salt Lake City, to review preliminary plans for a proposed community center building for Moab. The meeting stemmed from earlier talks which discussed the feasibility of constructing a facility which would seat in the neighborhood of 1 ,000 in an auditorium; would house the displays of the Moab Museum, and would seat some 500 persons at a banquet. Mr. Ehlers, who has done a considerable amount of design work for Grand County School District, volunteered the services ser-vices of his firm in drawing up preliminary sketches of such a facility, so that a decision could be made as to whether or not to proceed with plans. Mr. Ehlers did the work on his own behalf, and at no expense to the local groups. Following the discussion with the architect, unanimous approval was given by the group to proceed with planning plan-ning which will involve the expenditure of minimal a-mounts a-mounts of money for study and further architectual planning. The actual project, which would be supported financially on a joint basis by the agencies involved, would be in excess of $1 million in cost, and would require a bond issue. Connie Caouette, president of the Chamber of Commerce, presided over the meeting. At its conclusion, he named a five member committee to continue contin-ue with final planning, so that a decision could be reached as to whether or not to call a bond election for a voters' decision on the matter. Named to the committee were Dixie Barker, Bill Meador, D. L. Taylor, Dave May and Sam Taylor. S ' ..JM. - . n - - aJ..:. : - " -. ; - .
